"Advertising is the art of convincing. It is a process of communication and audiovisual information, aimed at a mass audience to sell a product or service" (Francisco Rivero Gil, Santander, 1899-Mexico, 1972).

Painter and draftsman, he started his professional activity in El Pueblo Cántabro, later he would collaborate with La Libertad and El Sol, from Madrid; Adelante, from Valencia; El Socialista and El Diluvio, from Barcelona.

In the thirties, he stood out as an illustrator of book covers for the publishing house Espasa Calpe and as a poster artist in advertising. During the Civil War, he designed pro-Republican posters.

As a result of his political involvement, Francisco Rivero Gil went into exile in France, before being able to emigrate to South America: the Dominican Republic, and then Mexico, where he lived and worked until his death, collaborating with the publications El Excelsior and El Nacional.
